FSC Türkiye National Representation
FSC is established in Türkiye as of May 2024. Türkiye has the second biggest certified forest area in Europe and number of CoC certificate holders doubled since 2020.
Forest in Türkiye
Türkiye is located between Europe and the Middle East, stretching over the territory of 779,452 sq km. Forest land is around 22 220.36 k ha, i.e. comprising 29,4% of total land cover (GDF, 2021). Türkiye is ranking as the 27th country in the world in terms of forest area (FRA). Productive forests are 13 264.429 (58%), plantations comprise 338.000 ha (GFW). The 22 220.36 k ha fall under Forest area with long-term forest management plan, out of which 21 503.02 k ha are naturally regenerating forest and 717.34 k ha are planted forests, according to official statistics.

Forest Management Structure
99% of Turkish forests are publicly owned and managed by General Directorate of Forestry. It was established in 1839 and has got 2140 forestry sub-district directorate, 246 forestry district directorate, 28 regional directorates of forestry controlling 246 State Forest Enterprises, which comprise a total of 2140 Forest Chiefdoms (also called forest units)
