Strengthening National Dialogue on Sustainable Forestry

Continuing its regional engagement program, FSC Türkiye carried out a new series of visits to the Kütahya, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, and İstanbul Regional Directorates of Forestry, strengthening collaboration and exchanging experiences on FSC Forest Management Certification and sustainable forestry practices.

The Marmara Region, with its diverse forest ecosystems and active forestry operations, plays a significant role in Türkiye’s forest management landscape. These visits provided an opportunity to further develop partnerships between FSC Türkiye and regional forestry authorities, focusing on the implementation of FSC standards, national adaptation efforts, and practical insights from field experience.

During the meetings, the FSC Türkiye team presented updates on the country-level standard development process and shared information about ongoing initiatives supporting certified forest operations. Participants from Regional Directorates and field teams contributed valuable perspectives on operational realities, challenges, and opportunities for continuous improvement under the FSC framework.

Toward Stronger Cooperation Across Regions

FSC Türkiye emphasized the importance of continuous technical dialogue, capacity building, and transparent information exchange among forestry institutions. By connecting experiences from different regions from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean and now the Marmara the initiative aims to create a stronger national network committed to responsible and resilient forest stewardship.
