Expanding Dialogue Across the Mediterranean Forests
Following its technical visits in the Black Sea region, FSC Türkiye continued its field program in the south, meeting with the Mersin, Adana, and Antalya Regional Directorates of Forestry. These three key regions play a vital role in Türkiye’s Mediterranean forest ecosystems, both in terms of biodiversity and productive forest resources.
Stretching from biodiversity-rich coastal ecosystems to productive pine and cedar forests, the Mediterranean belt holds strategic importance for Türkiye’s forestry sector. As part of its 2025 field visit program, the FSC® Türkiye National Representation met with regional teams to review the implementation of FSC Forest Management Certification, exchange technical experiences, and strengthen collaboration in sustainable forest management.
These visits represented an important step in introducing FSC’s national structure in Türkiye, reinforcing existing partnerships, and enhancing knowledge sharing at the regional level. Meetings included general discussions on the application of FSC standards, while regional teams provided valuable feedback on local conditions and field practices.
FSC Türkiye appreciates the contributions of the regional directorates and the constructive participation of technical teams, and looks forward to continuing this collaboration toward the shared goal of ensuring Türkiye’s forests are managed in a resilient, sustainable, and responsible manner.
